Hello beauties!! 🙂 Today’s post is going to be a review on the konjac sponge I recently purchased on Birchbox.com. I have been seeing these sponges pop up everywhere and I jut had to try one out! And I had heard great things about the brand One Love Organics so I decided to go with the Bamboo Charcoal sponge since my skin is pretty oily. Although, I am always pretty cautious when trying a new skincare item because even the slightest of things can irritate my skin and cause breakouts. And I do not have time for breakouts, I mean no one does really. But for the purpose of review and my blog, I went for it, I just jumped right on in. Like jumping into a dark cave of the unknown, even though you read great reviews about it online, but that is besides the point.

One Love Organics Bamboo Charcoal Sponge– $10

I linked it to the One Love Organics website, but there are a bunch of different places to purchase it, just not in Ulta or Sephora.

To start out, the concept of this sponge is pretty simple; a tool made of plant fibers that is soft enough even on the most sensitive skin.

Mostly Dry

You squeeze the sponge gently in some water to make it double the size, put some of your favorite cleanser directly on the sponge, then rub the sponge in a circular motion on your face. Pretty similar to what you do with a beauty blender. The sponge itself is really weird to me. It is rock solid, yet so light, then with water it turns into one of the softest and squishiest (in a good way) things ever. It is just so amazing.  I love it just to play with.

Damp

Getting on to the more important details, like the fact it is shaped like a heart and what it actually does. But really the heart is too cute. Anyhow, this sponge is supposed to be used in the morning and night to softly exfoliate your skin and help clear and protect from breakouts. At first I was pretty skeptical that a sponge could do all that. And I still kind of am. I haven’t broke out at all since I have started using this, but I also just haven’t been breaking out too bad. I do know that it has helped clear out the blackheads around my nose so just for that reason I do like it. I think it is more of a slow change but it has been making one. It is of course made for very sensitive skin so I wouldn’t expect it to be an overnight difference.

My one and only problem with this sponge is that it takes forever to fully dry out. When I doesn’t dry out all the way it can disintegrate the plant fibers which worries me. I keep it in a well ventilated area so it isn’t a humid place but it still takes forever. If you have one of these konjac sponge I would love some tips!

Overall, if you are looking for something that will help your skins quality over time, I would check out this product. Although it will take some time to see results, I do like it and will continue to use it.

What did you guys think of this post? Do you have any tips for helping the sponge dry out quicker?  Let me know! I love to hear feedback and respond to your comments! As always have a great rest of your day and be sure to come back for my next post!
